In an error-strewn match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav bowled equally immaculate spells, but it was Kolkata Knight Riders who came away with their third win of the season and jumped to the top of the points table.
Robin Uthappa thickly edged his first ball to the keeper, but umpire Anil Dandekar did not spot it. He continued to lead a charmed life and struck 68 off 39 balls, which formed the crux of KKR’s 172 for 6. They could have got more had Bhuvneshwar not nailed his lengths. Bhuvneshwar, who bowled two overs in the Powerplay, and two at the back end, claimed 3 for 20. It was the 11th time that Bhuvneshwar had gone for a run-a-ball or less from his four overs in an IPL match, but it was not enough for Sunrisers.
David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan sauntered to 45 for 0 in the Powerplay, but Kuldeep nipped out Warner and derailed the chase. They lost 6 for 83 and eventually lost their second successive match.
