Jason Holder called right as West Indies elected to bowl on a grassy surface in sunny Bulawayo. They went in with the same XI that tied their previous game against Zimbabwe on Saturday.
“This seems to be a fresh wicket, with plenty of moisture. We want to exploit that,” he said. “Our last game was a close game. We made some silly mistakes, but we’ve spoken about it and hopefully we’ll learn from it.”
Sri Lanka brought in Nuwan Pradeep and Shehan Jayasuriya in place of Jeffery Vandersay and Dasun Shanaka. “Everyone knows the importance of this game, but there’s no pressure,” Upul Tharanga, the stand-in captain, said. “I would have bowled first too as this is a fresh wicket. There seems to be a lot of grass.”
A win today for either side will help them seal a berth in the final. While this is Sri Lanka’s last league fixture, West Indies have a game in hand.
