Hardik Patel picked up seven wickets for Gujarat on day four as they beat Uttar Pradesh by 132 runs in Delhi. Chasing 308, UP went from 144 for 4 to 175 all out in the space of 19 overs as Hardik achieved his best first-class figures of 7 for 72 and 11 for 143 for the match. Before their collapse, Tanmay Srivastava and Umang Sharma made 37 and 36 respectively.
Gujarat started the day 186 for 5, with a lead of 292, and lost their last five wickets while adding only 15 runs, as Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets in three overs to finish with figures of 6 for 79.
Ashok Dinda collected all five wickets on day four as Bengal beat Railways by 43 runs in Dharamsala. Resuming on 196 for five, Railways required a further 119 runs, but Dinda’s fast bowling skittled out the lower order as they were bowled out for 271.
Railways added 75 runs in 74 balls for the loss of their last five wickets, as Karn Sharma, overnight on 13, ended unbeaten on 54 off 76 balls, with six fours and three sixes. Dinda finished with match figures of 10 for 112, his fourth ten-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
Yuvraj Singh scored 260 and became the second double-centurion in Punjab‘s innings alongside Manan Vohra, who scored 224, as they earned three points in a high-scoring draw against Baroda at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Starting the last day 452 for 2, and trailing Baroda by 77, Punjab gained a 141-run first-innings lead, as Yuvraj extended his overnight 179 to 260 (370b, 26×4, 4×6).
Vohra added 23 to his overnight 201 before being bowled by Murtuja Vahora, while Gurkeerat Singh (55) and Taruwar Kohli (30) supported their captain Yuvraj en route to his highest first-class score, before he was bowled by Vishnu Solanki. Swapnil Singh was Baroda’s most successful bowler with figures of 4 for 169 in 51 overs, as they bowled Punjab out for 670.
Openers Kedar Devdhar and Dhiren Mistry played out the last 14 overs to end the match with Baroda 37 for no loss. Deepak Hooda was adjudjed Player of the Match for his unbeaten 293 in the first innings.
Madhya Pradesh survived a scare in their second innings to collect one point after Tamil Nadu made them follow on in Cuttack. Starting with three wickets in hand in their first innings, MP added only 12 runs to their overnight score before being dismissed for 273, which left them with a 282-run first-innings deficit. Aushik Srinivas, who picked up the last two wickets, finished on three wickets, as did Washington Sundar.
Batting again, MP’s top-order collapsed and they were 44 for 4 thanks to Aswin Crist‘s double-blow in the third over and Aushik’s slow left-armers, before a 109-run partnership between Harpreet Singh (52) and Shubham Sharma stabilised them.
Shubham’s unbeaten 245-ball 77 and Ankit Dane’s unbeaten 33 ensured MP saved the game, as they batted out the last 30 overs and added 69. MP finished on 222 for five. Tamil Nadu debutant N Jagadeesan was declared Player of the Match for his unbeaten 123 in the first innings.
