Anya Shrubsole has been ruled out of any part in England Women’s tour of the Caribbean after picking up a series of injuries
Shrubsole, the Somerset opening bowler, had hoped to be fit for the third ODI in Kingston after being ruled out of the first two matches in Montego Bay.
However, upon returning to training, Shrubsole developed severe joint pain in her neck and will now return home to the UK for further assessment and treatment in the next few days. At this stage no replacement has been named in the squad.
“It is disappointing news that Anya won’t be available for any of the matches during this tour,” said Mark Robinson, the head coach. “I know how frustrated she is that she won’t get the chance to make an impact on the series and contribute to the team.
“But we have already shown what a versatile bowling attack we have in the first couple of matches out here, so I am sure that the players will all continue to work hard together and put in some strong performances in these final three games.”
In Shrubsole’s absence, England won the third ODI by 112 runs to take a 2-1 series lead with the last two matches due to be placed at the same venue on October 16 and 19.
