Durham and England fast bowler Mark Wood has undergone second surgery on his left ankle. The surgery was to address issues at the back of his left ankle, five months after a successful surgery to the front of the same ankle in November.
Wood will now undergo a rehabilitation period and begin his programme to get back to bowling for his return to competitive cricket later this summer. He is expected to remain out of action for up to eight weeks of the 2016 season, and out of the three Tests against Sri Lanka starting next month.
Wood had flown home early from England’s tour of the UAE in November and was later forced to pull out of his scheduled return for Durham’s second XI against Scotland earlier this week.
