There was no play at Emirates Riverside today with rain falling steadily and the forecast is not good for tomorrow.
On 223 for four in their second innings, Durham lead by 300 runs, but if there is a chance of a full day tomorrow it is unlikely Paul Collingwood would declare overnight.
He will not want to give Somerset any chance of victory in a game in which they have been thoroughly outplayed.
Durham coach Jon Lewis said: “If we can get two good sessions tomorrow that will give us a chance to knock them over. But it’s not a bad pitch and we would have liked a few more than 256 in our first innings.”
