Fran Wilson’s half-century came in vain as England Women’s Academy lost by two wickets against Australia A in the final match of their tour of Sri Lanka.
The Shooting Stars produced a balanced batting attack as they chased down their target with 21 balls to spare after bowling EWA out for 232.
Having won their previous five matches of the tour, EWA were looking to make it six wins from six.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, EWA got to a strong start as openers Emma Lamb and Eva Jones hit 44 and 42 respectively but lost the former to leave them 82 for one.
Jones and Georgia Adams would fall in quick succession before Wilson would pace EWA’s innings.
Wilson went on to hit 60 off 58 balls but wickets tumbled as Tahila McGrath, Heather Graham and Sophie Molineux all grabbed two wickets apiece to dismiss EWA for 232 after 48 overs.
Despite Beth Langston’s 2-36, seven of Australia A’s batsmen would reach double figures as EWA would lose their first match of the tour.
