South Africa’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals took a massive hit following their second loss in the tournament. England can secure a berth in the semis at their expense with a win against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
West Indies, though, didn’t have it easy on a sluggish pitch at Nagpur. Opting to bowl, West Indies restricted the South Africans to 122 for eight with some disciplined bowling.
It looked like the West Indies would canter home but lost their way towards the fag end of the innings. Marlon Samuels bailed the team out with a gritty 44 as the Caribbeans prevailed in a tense finish.
