England chase last-four spot

England require 109 to beat West Indies in Dharamsala and secure an ICC Women’s World Twenty20 semi-final place.

Charlotte Edwards’ side headed into the clash knowing a third consecutive Group B victory in India would see them progress to the last four of a tournament they won in 2009.

And at the halfway stage they were in a decent position to do that after restricting the also unbeaten Windies to 108 for four from 20 overs.

Anya Shrubsole and Jenny Gunn both produced impressive four-over spells, each taking a wicket and conceding only 11 and 15 runs respectively.

But England know they will not have it all their own way at the same venue where they lost eight wickets chasing 91 to beat India on Wednesday.

The Windies found the going tough on a slow wicket after winning the toss and were reliant on a partnership of 52 in eight overs between Stafanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin.

Brunt delivered a wicket-maiden in the second over, having Hayley Matthews caught by Natalie Sciver for nine, but was hit for back-to-back fours by Shaquana Quintyne twice during a powerplay that brought 34 runs.

Quintyne and Taylor added a patient 41 in 8.5 overs until the former hit Sciver to Gunn to depart for 29 off 28 balls.

Skipper Taylor and Dottin then upped the tempo, hitting 35 and 22 respectively, but fell to Shrubsole and Gunn in the final two overs that went for only eight runs.
