Centuries from Marnus Labuschagne and Chris Lynn helped Queensland take a 10-run first-innings lead over Western Australia. Sam Heazlett also chipped in with 89 at No. 5 that pushed Queensland to a declaration at 8 for 446.
Queensland’s innings was built on strong partnerships in the top order, the best of which came from Lynn and Heazlett who added 101 for the fourth wicket. Lynn also paired with Labuschagne to add 95 for the third wicket. But the most crucial stand, perhaps, was shared by Heazlett and James Hopes, who added 73 for the seventh wicket after quick blows had reduced Queensland to 6 for 357. Labuschagne’s 130 contained 15 fours, while Lynn’s 101, which came off 150 balls, contained 16 fours and three sixes.
Cameron Bancroft and Shaun Marsh took Western Australia to 1 for 79 at stumps, after Marcus Harris was dismissed in the fifth over of their second innings.
