The Danube Group-owned team had appointed the former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman as its leader, while giving the deputy’s job to New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori. The unveiling ceremony was attended by group owner Anis Sajan and Vettori.
Strikers will play their first match on January 29. Other members of the team include Shane Bond, Tino Best, Mahela Jayawardena, Khurram Khan, Phil Mustard, Nathan Hauritz, Alviro Peterson, Michael Carberry, Krishmar Santokie, Jonathan Trott, Yasir Hameed, Mushtaq Ahmed and Gavin Hamilton.
The MCL, which will feature a total of six teams playing in the Twenty20 format, has already got the approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC). The MCL, which has only retired international players on board, has received a 10-year approval from the Emirates Cricket Board.
