Team India pace bowler Arshdeep Singh was seen sharing a light-hearted moment with his teammate Mohammed Siraj after Day 3 of the second Test against England. Arshdeep teased Siraj with a modification to his well-known statement, bringing a fun and relaxed vibe to the post-match interaction.

Siraj was the pick of the bowlers for India on Day 3 (Friday, July 4) of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. He claimed six wickets to put India in a commanding position with a 180-run first-innings lead. The pacer dismissed Joe Root and Ben Stokes in consecutive deliveries.

However, Harry Brook and Jamie Smith added a massive 303-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Brook was dismissed for 158, triggering a collapse. England lost their final five wickets for just 20 runs. The Ben Stokes-led side was bowled out for 407, with Smith remaining unbeaten on 184.

On Saturday, July 5, the Indian cricket team shared a video on their official Instagram account. During Mohammed Siraj’s post-match interview with the BCCI, Arshdeep Singh interrupted and jokingly said that the line should now include Jasprit Bumrah.

“Brother, there is a dialogue change. I only believe in myself and Jassi bhai,” Arshdeep Singh said at the beginning of the interview.

Siraj joined an elite list after his six-wicket haul against England. He became only the second Indian bowler, after Jasprit Bumrah, to take five or more wickets in an innings across all four countries – England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies.

I Told Him That I Would Bowl 4 Balls… – Mohammed Siraj

Akash Deep took four wickets and came close to securing his maiden five-wicket haul during England’s first innings. Mohammed Siraj said that he enjoyed bowling alongside Akash.

“Akash Deep was waiting for his opportunity, and he showed his hunger today. I really enjoyed bowling with him. I enjoy responsibility and it is good that I did well today,” Siraj said.

Siraj also revealed that he had considered bowling wide of the stumps to give Akash a better chance of reaching his five-wicket milestone. However, Akash declined the offer, showcasing a team-first attitude.

“I would have loved if Akash Deep would have taken a five-wicket haul today. Your first 5-wicket haul is special. I told him that I would bowl 4 balls away from the stump to give him the best chance at taking 5, but he said no,” Siraj explained.

India Take Control After Mohammed Siraj’s Six-Wicket Haul

India gained firm control of the second Test after Mohammed Siraj’s brilliant six-wicket haul helped them secure a commanding 180-run first-innings lead.

Earlier, after being put in to bat on Day 1, India posted a massive 587, with a 269-run knock from captain Shubman Gill. With the ball, Siraj and Akash Deep shared all 10 English wickets between them.

England were struggling at 84/5, but a 303-run partnership between Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184*) helped the team cross 400 runs.

After losing the first Test at Leeds following a 317-run chase by England, India are now in a position to level the five-match series 1-1, with over two days of play left and a big lead in hand.
