S Sreesanth takes fresh dig at Harbhajan Singh, labels him jealous after pacer's hefty IPL deal

The conflict between two former Team India cricketers, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh, unfolded again, as the controversial former pacer has made back-to-back scathing remarks on his former teammate.

During an exclusive interaction with ABP News, S Sreesanth again makes some surprising comments about his relationship with Harbhajan. According to the ex-pacer, Harbhajan was not very happy when the Kings XI Punjab (now the Punjab Kings) bought him for their team.

Shanthakumaran Sreesanth makes another shocking claim on Harbhajan Singh

During the interaction, Sreesanth, the former Team India pacer, says that when the Punjab-based franchise invested in him ahead of the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), it came as a shocker to many. If the claims made by the ex-fast bowler are to be believed, then Harbhajan Singh was among those who were surprised by the move.

During the very first players’ auction of the league, for the 2007-08 season, Kings XI Punjab invested INR 2.50 crore to secure the signing of the seamer, who was then an active player for the Indian National Cricket Team.

When did the ‘Slapgate’ incident take place?

The first season with the franchise was brilliant for him, as he took 19 wickets from 15 matches and as many innings for an economy rate of 8.63. Sreesanth played a total of three consecutive seasons for the Kings, joining the Kochi Tuskers Kerala (now defunct), followed by a stint with the Rajasthan Royals.

While the pacer started his IPL career with Punjab, Harbhajan Singh was with the Mumbai Indians for straight ten seasons, before joining hands with the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively.

The infamous ‘slapgate’ incident took place during the 2008 Indian Premier League season, when the Mumbai Indians were up against the Kings XI Punjab for a match. Harbhajan Singh slapped his India and Kings XI Punjab teammate S Sreesanth on the field. The King’s Pacer was in tears after the incident. The Mumbai Indians spinner apologised for his actions openly on multiple occasions.

Years after the controversial incident, when everthing seemed closed, S Sreesanth made some shocking comments, pointing out an advertisement where the former spinner was with boxing gloves.

The former pacer claimed in a previous interview that through the ad, by referring to the slapgate incident, Harbhajan had earned a hefty amount of money. From nowhere, the controversial fast bowler challenged the Punjab-born for a real boxing match.

However, Harbhajan Singh did not issue any direct comments pointed towards his ex-teammate. But, he posted a meaningpost post via an Instagram post, where the legendary spinner stated that only the empty utensils make most of the noises.

“I am currently in the Bare Knuckle Fight League. I am challenging you, Bhajji. If you have this much of a problem with the slap thing and me, and you earn this much… let me earn too. Come into the ring,” the seamer said during a segment with Lallantop.

Now, in a fresh claim, he says that Harbhajan was not happy when Kings XI Punjab roped him in for a good amount.
