David Warner's brutal take on Rishabh Pant trade goes viral

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s return to Delhi Capitals has now become one of the biggest talking points among the cricket fraternity across the world. The latest one is the former Delhi Capitals captain and Australian icon David Warner, who mocked Rishabh Pant’s return after Kuldeep Yadav on social media.

Pant has left Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after two tough seasons and is back with the franchise where he spent most of his IPL career and got success at the highest level. In the blockbuster trade deal, Kuldeep Yadav left the Delhi Capitals and joined the Lucknow Super Giants, while the Indian wicketkeeper-batter returned to his first franchise in the IPL.

Parth Jindal welcomes Rishabh Pant back, thanks Kuldeep Yadav after blockbuster IPL trade

Former Australia opener David Warner hit the headlines with his response to a post from Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal. After the trade was completed, Jindal thanked Kuldeep for his contribution to Delhi Capitals over the last five years and wished him success for the future.

The DC co-owner also welcomed Pant back to Delhi and expressed hope that the wicketkeeper-batter would rediscover his best form in a familiar atmosphere. But following the deal, the current captain Axar Patel ignored Rishabh Pant’s calls.

Parth Jindal posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Dear Kuldeep, thank you for your service over the last 5 years @DelhiCapitals; you have been a core part of our team, and you will be sorely missed. Go well—you are a champion player, and I am sure you will do extremely well back in your home ground. Rishabh, Kiran and I are both happy to have you back at DC. Hope you can find your best form back home in Delhi. @IPL”

‘It was always going to happen’: David Warner takes dig at Parth Jindal and DC over Rishabh Pant return

Soon after the post went viral online, Warner couldn’t help but laugh at the Delhi Capitals and Jindal over the Kuldeep-Pant swap. Since Warner was part of the DC side on two stints, he knows many things others don’t know, so he made the most of this to roast Jindal and DC.

Warner replied to Jindal’s post by saying: “It was always going to happen. Auctions can get out of hand, and if there is a dip in form and one owner wants to get rid of you while the other wanted you but was unfortunately outbid, you can bide your time.”

₹12 Crore pay cut and fresh start for Rishabh Pant

Pant went through the rough phase after becoming the most expensive player in IPL history when Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bought him for ₹27 crore. Well, the expectations were sky-high, but the left-hander struggled to deliver both as a captain and batter.

He managed only 269 runs in the 2025 season and then amassed only 312 runs in the recent season while his average was under 25 across the two seasons. LSG also finished at the bottom of the table with only four wins in the IPL 2026, leading to his exit from the side.

Now, Pant has returned to Delhi Capitals after accepting a pay cut of ₹12 crore. Now, it remains to see whether the wicketkeeper once again leads the franchise in the IPL 2027 because he is already struggling badly for form with the bat.
