Proving all of the speculations that gained momentum days after the conclusion of the IPL 2026 season, Kuldeep Yadav has officially left the Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2027 season. In the next Indian Premier League season, the left-arm wrist spinner will be seen playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The Delhi Capitals (DC) have confirmed the development through an official announcement. In the moment when Yadav’s departure has officially been confirmed, DC shares a heartfelt video from their official social media accounts across social media platforms.
Delhi Capitals shares an emotional video
The video showed the bonding between the Capitals skipper Axar Patel and Yadav. Kuldeep mentioned that when he joined the franchise back in 2022, he was struggling with his form. But the franchise showed immense trust and signed him ahead of the IPL 2022 season.
The IPL 2022 season appeared as a turning point for the spinner. In that season, he took 21 wickets in 14 matches and as many innings. So far, it remains his best season throughout his Indian Premier League career. 2026 was not up to the mark for him on an individual basis and for the team as well.
The veteran spinner concluded with only 10 wickets from 11 innings with an expensive economy rate, over 10. In two back-to-back seasons, Delhi played multiple matches in a promising way but missed the opportunities to secure their spot in the play-offs.
Kuldeep Yadav reflects on the importance of DC in his career
After the 2026 season, it became obvious that the franchise is going to take some major steps to improve its performance in the upcoming campaign. As a major move, the franchise has decided to remove Kuldeep Yadav from the side. From LSG, it is the star keeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, who will join the Delhi-based franchise for the upcoming season.
“When I joined the DC team in 2022, I was struggling with my form and also coming back from injury, and get to play 14 games on a trot and perform really well in that season. Joining DC was the turning point of my career because you know things were not going really well, and then and one season, when I played for Delhi, and obviously everything changed,” Kuldeep Yadav expressed himself in the video shared by the Delhi Capitals.
I think I miss my partner: Axar Patel
It is a hard moment for the skipper Axar Patel, as with Kuldeep Yadav, they made a strong bond utilising their prolific spin bowling skills. With a heavy heart, Patel says that without Kuldeep, it feels like missing a partner.
“He (Kuldeep Yadav) has a positive attitude. He is very hardworking. Like he wins trophies and all that. He is a great bond. I think I miss my partner. That’s why I said that he is a great person and what he can do. He wins the team on his own. When I started playing cricket, there was no Chinaman spinner, no Western spinner. And when you are capable of doing something, you don’t back down,” Axar Patel said in the same video.
You came into our lives and spun our whole world around. Dilli was lucky to witness your magic, and we loved every bit of it 🥹
Thank you for everything, Kuldeep 💙❤️ pic.twitter.com/5n9nDMXD0L
