
The Board of Control for Cricket in India announces the team for the upcoming ODIs against Ireland and England. Due to injury, spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the T20I series against Ireland, as the BCCI informs in their official announcement of Sunday, June 21, the day after the third of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan.
Team India will travel to Ireland with three spinners- Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Ravi Bishnoi. In the official announcement, the board has informed that due to a foot injury, Varun Chakravarthy has not been selected for the T20Is against Ireland.

It is also informed that the experienced spinner is on the brink of concluding his ongoing rehab session at the Center of Excellence (CoE). “Varun Chakravarthy is in the final stages of his rehab at the BCCI COE following his left foot injury sustained in the TATA IPL 2026. He is ruled out of the T20I series against Ireland,” BCCI informed.

Varun Chakravarthy picked up the injury during the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He bowled a few deliveries with injury. During the season, it was informed that the veteran spinner injured his foot, and had a hairline fracture.
