The T20I skipper of Bangladesh, Litton Das, and experienced pace bowler Taskin Ahmed are both set to miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. According to Cricbuzz, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued No Objection Certificates (NOC) to both of the players for the Lankan Premier League (LPL), which will run from July 17 and will run till August 8.
As the board has provided them with the required NOCs, Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed will take part in the Sri Lankan franchise league, instead of representing the national team in Zimbabwe. Along with Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Shakib Al Hasan have received NOCs for LPL.
Bangladesh to face Zimbabwe in multiple formats
The tiger brigade will tour Zimbabwe for a multi-format series, starting on July 28. The series will start with a one-off Test, followed by a three-match ODI series and then a 3-match T20I series.
“They (Litton and Taskin) are not part of the Zimbabwe T20Is as they have been given NOCs for the LPL. Apart from Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Shakib Al Hasan have also been given NOCs for the LPL,” Shahriar Nafees, BCB cricket operations in-charge, confirmed the development to Cricbuzz.
Litton Das could play the one-off Test
Because of a muscle tear, Litton Das is expected to miss the entire ongoing T20I series against Australia, but is expected to take part in the upcoming one-off Test. Due to the Lankan Premier League, he will miss the T20I series against Zimbabwe as well.
Taskin Ahmed can join the national side of the ODIs, but his inclusion is yet to be finalized. Before the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, the Bangladesh cricket board arranged a special camp in Sylhet, but due to rain, the camp was washed out.
The board official further informed that for the Test, a group of cricketers will leave Dhaka on June 21, and the remaining part of the team will travel to Zimbabwe later.
“Test squad members who are not involved in white-ball cricket will leave for Zimbabwe on Sunday (July 21),” Nafees added.
