The Bangladesh National Cricket Team has been hit with a major scare just before the start of the three-match T20I series against Australia. Captain Litton Das is doubtful for the T20I series opener after picking up an injury in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia.
With the first T20I set to begin on Wednesday (June 17), the Bangladesh National Cricket Team management is now closely monitoring Das’ condition. The final decision on the wicketkeeper-batter’s availability is expected only after further medical assessment.
Litton Das suffers injury ahead of T20I series against Australia
Litton Das suffered the injury while batting in the third and final ODI against Australia on Sunday. He was in good touch but suddenly experienced discomfort during his innings and had to leave the field before completing his knock. At that stage, Litton had scored 48 runs and was forced to retire hurt.
However, after receiving treatment, Litton Das showed great determination and returned to the crease to complete his innings and register his maiden ODI fifty. Even after finishing his batting, Litton was not fit enough to continue on the field. He did not take up wicketkeeping duties, with Nurul Hasan replacing him behind the stumps for the remainder of the match.
Litton Das under observation as Bangladesh awaits fitness update
Initial reports suggest that the Bangladesh captain has suffered a muscle tear in his leg. The medical team has kept him under observation and is carefully checking the extent of the injury before making any final decision. Because of this setback, Litton is presently uncertain for the T20I series.
The Bangladesh team management does not want to take any unnecessary risks with their captain, especially if the injury needs more recovery time. The three-match T20I series against Australia will be played in Chattogram from Wednesday.
The second and third matches are scheduled for June 19 and June 21. Recently, they clinched the historic ODI series over Australia. Amid this, Cameron Green pulls out of Bangladesh T20I series.
Litton Das reveals big mindset change
Meanwhile, Litton Das revealed that the Pakistani great and Bangladesh spin bowling coach Mushtaq helped him change his mindset.
Das was quoted in a podcast presented by leading Bengali newspaper Prothom Alo: “He (Mushtaq) changed my mindset, and nowadays I am not too worried about the outcome.”
It is being said that the World Cup-winning star regularly supports Bangladesh players with their mental strength whenever they need help.
An official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz: “He is a World Cup-winning cricketer and has seen everything and can explain things to cricketers very well.”
He added, “The cricketers also take his words close to their hearts, taking his career and experience into account. You can say he is mentoring our cricketer, though not in an official capacity. He has worked extensively with Litton, among others.”
Mushtaq later shared that his main goal was simply to remove Litton’s fear of failure. He had shared, “It doesn’t matter how much talent or skill you have; if you have a doubt over your success, if you have a doubt about your process, then obviously the consistency will never come.”
