England will be the host nation for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026

The initial stage of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is divided into two groups, each containing 6 teams. The hosts, England, are sharing Group 1 with South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands. And in Group 2, there are the West Indies, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Scotland.

England will start their campaign on June 12. For the opening match of the competition, it will be held between England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston.

A couple of days later, the women’s team of India will kick off their run to claim the title. India will be one of the favourites to bag the trophy as they are the winners of the previous edition of the ODI World Cup. In their opening match, they will be up against the arch-rival Pakistan on June 14 in Edgbaston.

“The release of the schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is an important milestone in the run-up to the global, premier sporting event”, ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta said in an official press release.

“This event is in continuation of the ICC’s sustained investment in women’s cricket – across expanded participation and high-performance pathways, event and production standards, tournament prize money, widened media distribution and commercial partnerships – towards the goal of commanding higher levels of attention, affiliation and stature with fans worldwide”, he further added.
