India rest Hardik Pandya and pick Rishabh Pant; Hong Kong choose to bowl

Hong Kong chose to bowl vs India

This is Hong Kong’s first match at the 2022 Asia Cup; they made it to the tournament by winning all three of their games in the qualifying event in Oman. The last two of those wins had come while chasing and Nizakat said the team wanted to adopt the same strategy against India. They also picked the XI that had helped them script those two victories.

India were looking to bowl first as well, and their captain Rohit Sharma said the side was focused on doing the basics right, as they had done against Pakistan. Hardik was given a break after his all round match-winning performance in oppressively hot conditions against Pakistan; Pant returned to the XI and took over the wicket-keeping duties from Dinesh Karthik.

Victory for India tonight will take them into the Super 4 round as the top team from Group A.
