Toss: Australia Women chose to bowl vs India Women

Meg Lanning won the toss in the second ODI and opted to bowl first once again against India. Lanning said the new pitch at Mackay and the possibility of dew were behind her decision.

Australia were missing Rachael Haynes, the regular vice-captain and opener who smashed 93 not out in a thumping nine-wicket win in the first ODI. Haynes was out with injury, having sustained a blow to the elbow at a practice session on the eve of the match, and had to go for scans. With Haynes absent, Beth Mooney is slated to open the batting alongside Alyssa Healy.

Seam-bowling allrounder Nicola Carey, who sat out the first ODI with an abdomen strain, was brought into the XI. Haynes had previously played in each game of Australia’s streak of 25 successive ODI wins, last missing an ODI in the 2017 Women’s World Cup.

India also made one change, bringing in left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad in place of offspin-bowling allrounder Sneh Rana.
