Fantasy suggestions for match 49 of BBL 2020-21

Jan 23: Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat, Melbourne

Pro Tip: Shaun Marsh looked in amazing touch at the start of the season but his last four scores are 14, 0, 24 and 1. This could be the game he gets his form back since there are no additional pressures of qualification (Renegades are no longer in the race for knockouts spot)

Our XI: Shaun Marsh, Sam Harper, Mackenzie Harvey, Peter Hatzoglou, Jack Prestwidge, Marnus Labuschagne, Chris Lynn, Max Bryant, Jack Wildermuth, Mark Steketee, Mitchell Swepson

Substitutes: Morne Morkel, Joe Denly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Beau Webster

Player Availability: Kane Richardson and James Pattinson might not be available for the Renegades due to injury concerns while Marcus Harris might be available for selection.
We might not always be able to tip you off about late injury (or other relevant) updates, so please finalise your team after the toss

Captain: Shaun Marsh
After a bright start to this edition of the BBL, Shaun Marsh has faded away in recent games. He is due for a big knock and where better to achieve it than at the Docklands Stadium, one of his favourite BBL venues, where he has scored 358 runs in eight games at an average of 59.66. He has scored 272 runs in ten games with three 50-plus scores in BBL10.

Vice-captain: Marnus Labuschagne
The leading run-scorer in the recent Test series against India with 426 runs in four games, Labuschagne will look to carry that batting form into the BBL. Even though he did not have a great game against the Strikers a couple of days ago, he scored the most fantasy points from the Heat team for his 25-ball 28 and 2 for 20.

Hot Picks
Chris Lynn: The leading run scorer for Heat in this BBL season, Lynn has scored 317 runs in eight games at a strike rate of 149.52. He is also the third highest six-hitter this season with 17 hits beyond the rope so far. He has made three 40-plus scores against the Renegades in his last four outings against them.

Peter Hatzoglou: Hatzoglou has been in top form in his debut BBL season, picking up 15 wickets in ten innings at an average of 22.40, the joint leading wicket taker along with Kane Richardson for the Renegades. In the absence of Richardson due to injury, he led the Renegades’ bowling attack with a two-wicket haul against the Stars.

Mark Steketee: One of the leading wicket-takers in the ongoing tournament with 19 strikes in 11 games at an average of 19.52, Steketee is a key player for Heat if they have to get a spot in the knockouts. In his last outing against the Renegades, he was the best bowler in the game, picking up 2 for 24 in his four overs. He has been brilliant in death overs picking up eight wickets at an average of 13.25 this season.

Differential Picks
Jack Wildermuth: Wildermuth is enjoying his best BBL season ever, having picked up 13 wickets in 11 games. He is the joint leading wicket-taker in the first six overs, having picked up eight wickets at an incredible economy rate of 6.66. He has been striking the ball really well too in a couple of cameos, scoring a 10-ball 22* and an 11-ball 31.

Sam Harper: The 24-year-old Victorian wicketkeeper has surprised everyone by top run-scoring for the Renegades this season, having scored 275 runs in 12 games. He has also effected nine dismissals behind the stumps and that could give you additional points.

Alternate Scenarios

  • Beau Webster or Morne Morkel can replace Mitchell Swepson.
  • Chris Lynn and Peter Hatzoglou are the alternate captain and vice-captain options.
