Adam Zampa cops one-game suspension for obscenity

Legspinner will miss the Melbourne Stars clash with the Hobart Hurricanes on January 2

Melbourne Stars legspinner Adam Zampa has been suspended for one match in the BBL after accepting a charge of using an audible obscenity during the Stars’ loss to Sydney Thunder on December 29.

Zampa was charged by Cricket Australia with a Level 1 Code of Conduct breach for using an audible obscenity during the game. The charge carries a AUD 2500 fine and a one-game suspension. Zampa accepted the charge and will be unavailable for the Stars’ clash with the Hobart Hurricanes at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on January 2.

Zampa was reprimanded by the ICC during the 2019 World Cup for using an audible obscenity in Australia’s win over the West Indies but was not suspended under the ICC’s demerit points system as it was his first offence.

The Stars are also without Nathan Coulter-Nile for three to four weeks after scans revealed he suffered a calf strain in the Stars’ loss to the Sydney Sixers on the Gold Coast on Boxing Day.
