Medium-pacer Barry McCarthy took his maiden five-wicket haul to bowl Afghanistan out for 220, thereby handing Ireland a 51-run win in the second ODI in Sharjah. The win helped Ireland level the series with the decider scheduled on December 9.

Earlier, Paul Stirling‘s 82 helped Ireland post 271 for 9, assisted by a 115-run opening stand with William Porterfield. No. 8 George Dockrell smacked 62 off 48 deliveries, including seven fours and a six.
