Scorecard

Unbeaten 90-plus scores from Jack Wildermuth and Marnus Labuschagne, and a patient half-century from Joe Burns steered Queensland to 4 for 343 in a mere 81 overs in response to Tasmania’s 414 at the WACA Ground.

Burns anchored the major part of Queesnland’s innings with a 142-ball 81, helping his side recover after three of the top four fell for 25 or less. After he was trapped in front by medium-pacer Simon Mackin, Wildermuth (95*) and Labuschagne (92*) stitched together an unbroken fifth-wicket stand worth 145. The final 10 overs of the day were hammered for 62 runs as both batsmen went to stumps with 17 fours each.

Earlier in the day, Western Australia could last only 11.2 overs, having resumed on their overnight score of 7 for 355. However, their lower order added 59 runs in this period, led by a brisk half-century from Josh Inglis. His 74-ball effort, which included eight fours and two sixes, took the side past 400, before Brendan Doggett dismissed him to become the third Queensland bowler – apart from Wildermuth and Luke Feldman – to bag a three-four in the innings.
