Fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell’s second consecutive four-for helped West Indies A defend a middling 152 and draw the one-day series against Sri Lanka A with a 45-run win. Pace bowlers from either side dominated the low-scorer, taking 16 out of 20 wickets.

Cottrell and Kyle Mayers, who took 3 for 24, bundled Sri Lanka A out for a mere 107, their innings lasting only a little over 38 overs. The Sri Lanka A chase never really got going once their top order was dismissed by the 11th over, and opener Nipun Karunanayake played a lone hand of resistance. He fell for 47, the last wicket to be dismissed, after resisting for 113 balls.

West Indies A were thwarted by four wickets from left-arm fast bowler Vimukthi Perera, who was playing his first match of the series. Vimukthi’s 4 for 25 accounted for West Indies A’s top three, including Shamarh Brooks, who top-scored with 35. Brooks, Sunil Ambris and Andre McCarthy all got starts but Lahiru Kumara and Dasun Shanaka helped keep the hosts in check with two wickets each.
