A century from captain George Bailey and a collective effort from the bowlers guided Tasmania to a 114-run bonus-point victory against Cricket Australia XI in Sydney.

Bailey continued his illustrious form in the tournament as he posted his highest List A score in Australia (126 off 100 balls), surpassing his previous best of 125 he made against West Indies in 2013 at the WACA. Slamming nine sixes and nine fours, he stitched a 162-run third-wicket partnership with Alex Doolan (83 off 95 balls).

Matthew Wade‘s 39 off 16 balls, and a 48-run opening contribution from Ben Dunk and Ben McDermott lifted Tigers to a massive total of 7 for 334.

Cricket Australia XI lost the wickets of Max Bryant (0) and Beau Webster (4) within the first five overs of their chase to young pace-bowler Riley Meredith. Jim Carder’s and Clint Hinchliffe’s 78-run stand was the highest for CA XI in the match, and their efforts were brought to an end by Ben Dunk in a span of three overs.

Legspinner Cameron Boyce (3 for 61) wiped out the lower middle order while James Faulkner (2 for 42) cleared the tail to bundle out Cricket Australia XI for 220.
