West Indies bowl first, Gayle out injured

West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl against England
Live scorecard and ball-by-ball details

West Indies will be without birthday boy Chris Gayle as they attempt to level the one-day series at Trent Bridge. They will be chasing after Jason Holder won the toss and decided to bowl on a grey day in Nottingham with the threat of rain lurking.

Gayle tweaked his right hamstring in the warm-ups and was scrubbed from the team sheet moments before the toss with Kyle Hope taking his place. He had appeared to injure himself batting at Old Trafford – TV picking up him mentioning it to the umpires over the stump mic – although that was later denied by the West Indies camp. There was another change, too, with Miguel Cummins replacing Devendra Bishoo to provide another pace-bowling option.

England named an unchanged side on the ground where they broke the world record for the ODI total last year with 444 against Pakistan. Alex Hales scored an England-record 171. Eoin Morgan said he would have bowled first to take advantage of any early movement. However, with a chance of rain chasing may not be the worst thing if DLS comes into play.

England 1 Alex Hales, 2 Jonny Bairstow, 3 Joe Root, 4 Eoin Morgan (capt), 5 Ben Stokes, 6 Jos Buttler (wk), 7 Moeen Ali, 8 Chris Woakes, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Liam Plunkett, 11 David Willey

West Indies 1 Evin Lewis, 2 Kyle Hope, 3 Shai Hope (wk), 4 Marlon Samuels, 5 Jason Mohammed, 6 Rovman Powell, 7 Jason Holder (capt), 8 8 Ashley Nurse, 9 Miguel Cummins, 10 Jerome Taylor, 10 Kesrick Williams
