The Supreme Court has appointed the former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai, the historian and cricket writer Ramachandra Guha, the former India women captain Diana Edulji, and the CEO and managing director of IDFC (Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation) Vikram Limaye to the panel of administrators to supervise the BCCI, until the board holds fresh elections for office bearers as per the Lodha Committee’s recommendations.
The committee of administrators, which will be chaired by Rai, will take charge with immediate effect and liaise with the BCCI’s chief executive office Rahul Johri, who the court said will be in charge of the daily administration of the board.
The court had originally suggested that the amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium and senior legal counsel Anil Diwan draw up a list of people who could serve on the committee of administrators. However, during the previous hearing on January 24, the court expressed reservations against the presence of some 70-year-olds among the list of nine names submitted by Subramanium.
The court then asked the BCCI, some state associations, and the federal government, which was represented by Attornery General of India Mukul Rohatgi, to submit three names each by January 27 in a sealed envelope.
