India’s semifinal opponents, the West Indies, have been given a 16 percent chance of winning the tournament.
Kohli pulled of a magical innings of 82 not out against Australia to steer India home in a virtual quarterfinal match. Chasing 161 for victory, India were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 94 for four in 14 overs.
With six overs left and 67 runs to get, Kohli and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (18 not out) got about their business in the most clinical fashion to help India overhaul Australia’s score.
Earlier, it seemed Australia would post a mammoth total in Mohali after getting off to a flying start, courtesy Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja.
But India pulled things back in the middle overs and brilliant spell of death bowling saw Australia being restricted 160 for six.
