Fran Wilson hit a century as England women’s Academy thrashed Sri Lanka A by 75 runs in their opening tour match.

The Shooting Stars rarely threatened to reel in an imposing target of 312, although a late rally saw them finish on 236 for nine.

Eve Jones made a bright 26 for England, but the loss of opening partner Emma Lamb sparked a collapse from 31 without loss to 46 for three.

Wilson and Sophie Luff added 103 for the fourth wicket, with the latter making 54 before becoming one of Sudarshika Bandara’s two wickets.

Wilson added another 76 in tandem with Kate Cross before she was bowled by Achini Kulasooriya, who finished with 3-54.

Cross added 33 from 34 balls and Alex MacDonald hit two sixes in a 23-ball 29 in an excellent batting display.

Cross took 2-22 up front with the ball, including the early wicket of Lasanthi Madushani.

Steph Butler grabbed 2-35 as Sri Lanka crumbled to 159 for seven, although some late hitting from Rebeka Vandort and Malsha Shehani – who both added 31 – saw them reach a respectable total without ever threatening England’s dominance.
