New Zealand’s bid to keep an unbeaten record going into the World T20 semi-final took off to a fine start when they won their fourth toss in a row and opted to bat on a “very dry surface,” in Kolkata. Kane Williamson’s thoughts on the pitch mirrored his selection again as fast bowler Adam Milne was dropped for a third spinner in Nathan McCullum. Opening batsman Martin Guptill was given some time off and Henry Nicholls takes his place.

Bangladesh, on the 45th anniversary of their independence day, were hoping to give their people a consolation win. Mashrafe Mortaza had admitted losing off the last ball in Bangalore, and going out of the tournament, was very emotional, but the team has had some time to recover. They have reprised the same team that played India, just as the Eden Gardens has reprised the same pitch that has been used for the last two matches here.

New Zealand 1 Henry Nicholls, 2 Kane Williamson (capt), 3 Colin Munro, 4 Corey Anderson, 5 Ross Taylor, 6 Grant Elliot, 7 Luke Ronchi (wk), 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Nathan McCullum, 10 Mitchell McClenaghan, 11 Ish Sodhi

Bangladesh: 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Mohammad Mithun, 3 Sabbir Rahman, 4 Shakib Al Hasan, 5 Soumya Sarkar, 6 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 7 Mahmudullah, 8 Shuvagata Hom, 9 Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), 10 Al-Amin Hossain, 11 Mustafizur Rahman
