Pakistan women remain in the hunt

Pakistan head into Sunday’s clash with England in Chennai needing to win to have a chance of qualifying for the ICC Women’s Twenty20 semi-finals.

Pakistan hammered Bangladesh by nine wickets today to move level with West Indies on four points, two behind Group B leaders England and two ahead of fourth-placed India.

Bangladesh managed just 113 for nine after winning the toss, a total Pakistan overhauled with 21 balls unused, with Sidra Ameen hitting an unbeaten 53 and Bismah Maroof contributing 43 not out.

In Group A, holders Australia bounced back from their surprise defeat to New Zealand with a nine-wicket success over Sri Lanka.

Elyse Villani and skipper Meg Lanning struck unbeaten half-centuries as Australia chased 124 in 17.4 overs.

Megan Schutt and Kristen Beams both returned figures of 2-25 from four overs to restrict Sri Lanka to 123 for eight.
