World T20: Chris Gayle Suffers Hamstring Twinge, Doesn't Bat in Sri Lanka

Bengaluru: Chris Gayle, West Indies batting stalwart, suffered a left hamstring twinge while fielding in the World T20 Super 10 stage match against Sri Lanka on Sunday. (World Twenty20: Chris Gayle Blasts Record Ton, Becomes King of Sixes)

“Chris Gayle suffered a left hamstring twinge. He will not bat. It is not a major injury, please don’t speculate,” said a West Indies spokesperson. (World T20: Andre Fletcher Shines as West Indies Down Sri Lanka Without Chris Gayle)

Gayle left for the dressing room before the end of Sri Lanka’s innings even as the almost full crowd at Chinnaswamy stadium started chanting ‘We want Gayle’ to see the smasher in action after the West Indies started their chase of 123 runs.

Despite the announcement by the West Indies spokesperson, the giant screen notified the crowd that Gayle will come to if Andre Fletcher or Andre Russell get out but both saw their team home.

In West Indies’ first match against Gayle had scored an unbeaten ton in 47 balls.
