Beaumont stars as England women bowled out

Tammy Beaumont hit a half-century but England women were bowled out for 126 in their second ICC Women’s World Twenty20 against New Zealand.

Having won a last-ball thriller by four wickets when the two sides met yesterday, England found the going tougher in this Chennai rematch as off-spinner Leigh Kasperek took 4-12 and Felicity Leydon-Davis grabbed 3-19 with her medium pace.

The big positive for Mark Robinson’s side was Beaumont’s 56 from 52 balls at the top of the order, before she was run out to leave the score 97 for five.

Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Natalie Sciver and Georgia Elwiss had all fallen cheaply by that point, and once Beaumont fell no other England player scored more than 12.

Leydon-Davis and Kasperek made light work of the tail, as England were dismissed with four balls of their innings unused.
