Former England spinner Monty Panesar will travel to Barbados with previous club Northamptonshire for their upcoming pre-season tour.
The 33-year-old, who played 50 Tests, 26 one-day internationals and one Twenty20 for England, is currently a free agent following his release by Essex at the end of last season.
Panesar, who began his professional career at Northants 15 years ago, will be unable to bowl on the tour due to a shoulder injury that required surgery.
He will instead continue his rehabilitation with physio Barry Goudriaan and also use the trip to pass on his experience to the younger members of Northants’ squad.
