Afghanistan were put in to bat by Hong Kong in a must-win game of the Asia Cup T20 qualifying round. Afghanistan needed to beat Hong Kong and hope UAE lost to Oman to have a chance of qualifying for the main round. The team had lost one of their opening two matches, while Hong Kong were yet to win a game in the tournament.

Afghanistan made one change to their side from the last match, bringing fast bowler Shapoor Zadran back in place of left-arm spinner Amir Hamza.

Hong Kong, who were knocked out after yesterday’s defeat to UAE, made two changes. They handed an international debut to 18-year-old Tanveer Ahmed and picked medium-pacer Adil Mehmood. Waqas Khan and Haseeb Amjad were left out of the playing XI.
