Heath Streak is likely to be appointed bowling coach of Gujarat Lions, the new IPL franchise based in Rajkot.

Streak, the former Zimbabwe seamer and bowling coach, currently fulfils a similar role with the Bangladesh team but ESPNcricinfo understands that his contract is not exclusive and the BCB do not intend to prevent him taking the job.

Streak has developed a strong reputation as a coach. Since his appointment with Bangladesh, in May 2014, the team’s ODI results have improved sharply with a good World Cup followed by maiden ODI series wins against India, Pakistan and South Africa. They have also seen a new batch of seamers – the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain – develop into highly promising players.

Streak was contracted by Bangladesh to work for 450 days over two years, which runs out in June. He is set to join forces with Brad Hodge, the coach of the Gujarat Lions, and Suresh Raina, who has been named as captain, in his new role.
