Australia’s captain Steven Smith won the toss and chose to send New Zealand in to bat in Brendon McCullum’s last ODI, the third Chappell-Hadlee Trophy match at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

New Zealand left out Trent Boult due to illness, while Mitchell Santner was also missing due to a foot ailment ahead of the Test matches. Their places were taken by Doug Bracewell and Ish Sodhi. McCullum admitted at the toss that he also would have bowled first.

The visitors named an unchanged side after their victory in Wellington on Saturday, meaning Joel Paris remained on the sidelines after being called in as cover for Kane Richardson.

It is a fine day in Hamilton and a flat pitch looks good for batting, with a packed crowd in attendance.

New Zealand 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Brendon McCullum (capt), 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Henry Nicholls, 5 Grant Elliott, 6 Corey Anderson, 7 Luke Ronchi (wk), 8 Doug Bracewell, 9 Ish Sodhi, 10 Adam Milne, 11 Matt Henry

Australia 1 Usman Khawaja, 2 David Warner, 3 Steven Smith (capt), 4 George Bailey, 5 Glenn Maxwell, 6 Mitchell Marsh, 7 Matthew Wade (wk), 8 John Hastings, 9 Adam Zampa, 10 Scott Boland, 11 Josh Hazlewood
