England skipper Charlotte Edwards has been named Perth Scorchers fans’ player of the season following her impressive performances in the inaugural Women’s Big Bash League.
The 36-year-old, also included in team of the tournament, won 31.11 per cent of the votes from an online poll after helping the Scorchers reach the semi-finals.
Opening batter Edwards finished second in the competition’s run-charts, behind Australian Meg Lanning, having hit 462 runs from 15 innings at an average of 42.
Edwards’ former England team-mate Nicky Shaw finished third in the poll, collecting 13.33 per cent of votes.
