Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of the Twenty20 series due to a fractured thumb on his left hand.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of for the three-match Twenty20 series against Australia starting on January 26 due to a fractured thumb in his left hand.

Bhuvneshwar, who played two ODIs in the series in Perth and Canberra, struggled for impact as he failed to pick up a single wicket. In a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Rishi Dhawan, who made his ODI debut in the ODI in Melbourne, has been included as Bhuvneshwar’s replacement.

In more injury concerns for India, Ajinkya Rahane missed the fifth ODI in Sydney due to a split webbing in his right hand and Gurkeerat Singh Mann, who also made his debut in the Melbourne match, has been included as cover in the Indian squad in case Rahane fails to recover.

India will play three Twenty20 internationals against Australia, starting with the first match in Adelaide on January 26, followed by two more games in Melbourne and Sydney.
